Preparing your departure is probably the toughest and most boring part of any trip. But it is necessary to have the best time possible once there!

Before going, we had to prepare our clothes and other things since we’re going to live there for 3 months.

When thinking of Finland, the first thing that comes to mind is “cold”. So, we gathered our warmest winter clothes. Some of us even invested in thick coats, gloves and boots.

We asked for advice from 4th year students. They confirmed that we should buy appropriate clothing. They also recommended good sites for accommodation and gave us other general tips.

Then we set out to scour the internet for any useful and interesting information about the city and Finland in general. For example: how to get to Seinäjoki from Helsinki (we booked our flight from Paris to Helsinki for the 14th February). It seems the best option is to take the train. But since we must arrive to Seinäjoki between 7am and 9pm, for someone to meet us, we’ll have to book something for the night. At least we will be able to visit the capital for a couple of hours the day after.

Once there we will need to make the most of our time, so we searched for different activities and places to travel to. One of our friends (Arthur, who is coming with us for this Erasmus) found out that there is a ski resort really close to the university. I personally, really want to visit my family in St Petersburg, and my friends seem interested in visiting the city too, but we’ll have to see how to get visas. We also plan to visit Lapland, the rest of Finland and some of the other close countries. I’m not sure we will have time or money for everything, but we’ll do our best!
