Two weeks ago, with the aim of exploring the country and its environment we went to Tampere for a weekend, from the 17th to 18th of march. This trip was also the opportunity to meet another friend, Hadrien, whom resides in Turku.

We took the train to Tampere at approximately 9am (a 1-hour ride), and, after the reunification, we had decided to learn a bit about this city.
First, we visited the Orthodox Church of Tampere which is dedicated to Alexander Nevsky and Saint Nicholas. This architecture was completed in 1899 by the Russian architect and designer T.U.Yazukov.
We decided to put on a bit of height and go to Pääsylippu, for 2€ you can go up the tower and see all the landscape around Tampere.
After that, we had travelled the city to Finlayson Tehdasalue, which is a historical factory in the centre of Tampere and located on the Tammerkoski’s rapid’s upper reaches of the west bank.

Finalyson factory was established in 1820 by Scotch James Finalyson.
Then, we had continued to the North and discovered the Näsijärvi lake, 95 meters above the sea level, the biggest lake in the Tampere area with a 256 square kilometres area. During this walk, we stumbled upon a traditional sauna with a hole in the lake, but this story is for the next episode 😉 …
